A wee bit scary, if you ask me

Apparently, dissent is only patriotic when practiced by liberals.

From the White House: "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Thank you, Paul

Thanks to Paul from www.paulbass.net for designing my new blog header. It's good to know people with talent. Now my domain name and blog title match. I'm officially "The Productive Slacker". Unfortunately, I've been so productive lately that there is no time left for slacking....hence, no blog posts.

Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.

I wish I had said that. John Wayne beat me to it.

I recently flew to San Antonio, via Houston...and back. I was afraid, but I wasn't flying alone so I figured that would help some, and I remembered that I used to almost enjoy flying before that terrifying landing in Orlando back in 2002.

So, I made it through four flights. Four takeoffs. Four landings.

However, after completely losing about 3-4 hours of time upon arriving in San Antonio (and apparently I drove from the airport to the hotel), I decided that it was best not to take the Ativan on the way back.

Those two flights were not nearly as pleasant.

Landing back at home was not pretty. It was my first nighttime landing. The pilot had informed us that there were wind gusts of 20 mph, which isn't much, but "gusts" is not a word you want to hear when you're in an airplane imagining it being flipped upside down and plummeting into the ground.

If you don't understand fear, then this post sounds insane to you. But fear of flying is quite common, and the fear is paralyzing. There is no way to describe it, so I won't try. But I have been doing a lot of online research, and have even taken an online "fear of flying" course. You might be surprised how many online "fear of flying" websites there are. Most of them are run by very experienced pilots (or perhaps they are lonely, drunk, homeless men posting from public libraries and pretending to be pilots, but they are reassuring nonetheless). I "met" other people who are afraid of flying, and found that my feelings really aren't all that unusual. They describe their fears in a way that I can completely identify with, to the point where it's almost funny.

During all of my "research", I learned all about how airplanes are made, how they work, how they actually get off the ground, how pilots are trained, etc. I learned a few very clever relaxation and distraction techniques that I can actually imagine would work for me, to a degree, and with practice. I watched videos of planes taking off and landing, over and over, from all different angles, including video taken from inside the plane. It was very comforting to understand (somewhat) how airplanes work, and how safe air travel is.

I was preparing for another flight I was about to take, alone.

Those plans changed, but for personal reasons that had nothing to do with being afraid.

One big part of the reading I did and the class I took, was the reassurance that plane crashes are extremely rare, and that one of the big problems is the media sensationalism. After all, I probably hear about dozens of car accidents each week, but I don't avoid automobile travel because of it. When I'm riding in a car, I don't scrutinize every little noise, or fear hitting a pothole and being thrown into oncoming traffic (which really isn't all that uncommon). Why should I analyze every bump in an airplane, and assume it means that the plane is about to nosedive?

And one thing that you learn in the fear of flying classes; one thing drilled into your head, is that planes DO NOT just fall out of the sky.

In case you haven't been paying attention to the news, THREE commercial jets fell out of the sky over the past couple of weeks.

Okay, so one of them glided into a river, and no one died. But in that case, the fear itself would have killed me.

I wrote all of this crap to make a point...I am not going to let irrational fears control me.

(Not all of them, anyway. I doubt I'll be riding an elevator up to the 57th floor of a building anytime soon. Yeah, that fear is bigger than the flight phobia.)

I am still going to fly. Maybe soon.

And I still drive over bridges, even though I don't like it.

(Okay, not the Skyway Bridge, but hell, that one really DID fall down once.)

I'm also not going to be afraid to be who I am or do what I like to do, just because of what someone else might think of it. I'm doing quite well with that one.

And I do think I have managed to completely overcome one fear; the fear of being alone. That used to be a big one for me, but I don't think I'm afraid of it anymore.

Remember me?

Yes, I am still here. Well, I'm not really here. Not on this blog, anyway. But I'm still around.

I'm still conservative. I have not been assimilated along with the masses.

Maybe one day I will get back to blogging again. I don't want to lose my "shrill, bigoted Ann Coulter wannabe" reputation.

God Bless Adam

The Adam Walsh case is finally closed. Apparently, they took another look at the evidence, and concluded that Ottis Toole, the man John Walsh has suspected for years, had indeed abducted and murdered Adam.

This case has always bothered me, but once I had my son, it became hard to even think about. Every time I see John Walsh on America's Most Wanted, I wonder how he continues to draw breath. There can be nothing worse on earth than losing a child.

Here is the video of John Walsh's statement. It's kind of hard to watch. Twenty-seven years, and the pain is still unbearable for him, I am sure.

Ottis Toole was a serial killer, was convicted of other murders, and died in prison in 1996. He had confessed twice to Adam's murder, and recanted both times. I bet it's really hot in that special place in the 9th ring of hell that I am sure was reserved just for him.

Yippee! A day off!

Wednesday, December 10th, is Day Without A Gay!

That's right. All homosexuals are encouraged to call in to work.

According to the website:

We've reacted to anti-gay ballot initiatives in California, Arizona Florida, and Arkansas with anger, with resolve, and with courage.

Because nothing says "We want to get married" like calling in to work, right? *shrug*

A day without gays would be tragic because it would be a day without love.

Yes, because the only true love is gay love, of course. *eyeroll*

NOW, it's time to show America and the world how we love.

NO. PLEASE don't do that.

Then there's this:

BUT I CAN'T CALL IN AT WORK ON 12/10 OR I'LL GET FIRED!
If you live in one of the 30 states where individuals can still be fired simply for being gay or lesbian, there are still plenty of ways that you can lend a hand and a voice in our fight for gay equality--without missing work.

So, if someone "calls in gay", and gets fired, they are being fired because they are gay? Um, no. They are being fired for calling in to work for a bogus reason!

Anyhow, I don't really feel like working tomorrow, either. I guess if the homos can do it, so can I. You know, equal rights and all that. So I think I'll call in heterosexual.

I'll take that as a compliment

Someone stopped by one of my old blog posts and called me a "shrill, bigoted Ann Coulter wannabe". Even though it was most likely an unemployed adult male web-surfing from his mom's basement, I couldn't help but be flattered. I've finally been compared to one of my favorite political commentators, and a good-looking one at that. Not only is she a syndicated columnist and best-selling author, she can also think on her feet, and I really enjoy watching her own every liberal who tries to debate her.

Am I at all similar to Coulter? Let's see:

Conservative?

Check.

Outspoken?

Check.

Hot?

Check.

Website permanently linked to by the Drudge Report web page?

Ok, so I haven't managed that one yet, but you don't get far in life without goals.

Looks like I've finally made it. Even though my blog isn't entirely about politics, being compared to Ann has inspired me to keep writing about liberal hypocrisy and absurdity on an even more regular basis.

Unfortunately, my new fan posted his comment anonymously, so I can't even seek him out and thank him.

I do hope that I can live up to the standard.

How's this post, for starters? Shrill enough?

:(

Two things broke my heart today. Both had to do with little boys not much younger than my son. I never would have understood feeling this sad about things like this until I had him.

I won't get into the first story, but the second one is HERE.

Seeing that little boy crying, most likely for his mommy and daddy, just makes me sadder than I can even describe.

I know. Bad things happen to children every day, and I can't help all of them. That's what my husband always tells me. But maybe I can help this one, even if it's only in a very small way.

You can make a donation HERE. Do it. Even if you can only afford $2.00, it's something. They will email you a receipt, and it's tax deductible.

It won't bring back that little boy's parents, but maybe it will help him in some way.

Assault on Christianity

I was going to title this "Assault on Christmas", but it's more accurate to refer to it as an assault on Christianity, since it's not just Christmas the atheists hate, but anything at all to do with God.

Even as I type this, I can think of a few people it will probably offend. I have a Pagan friend. She might not agree with some of the things I say here.

There are also some Christians who won't like some of it.

I guess I am an equal opportunity offender. :(

So here it goes.

For the record, I don't really see Christmas as a Christian holiday. (Oh boy, the Christians are getting mad already.) Relax, I am a Christian, too. I just don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says that I am to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It tells the story of his birth. But that's about it. It doesn't tell me to reserve a special holiday for it. I always wondered about that when I was growing up. Then I met my husband, who has some really different views about Christmas, some of which I don't agree with. However, December 25th is NOT when Jesus was born. And the December 25th holiday (Christmas) DID come from Paganism. (I actually just made my Pagan friend really happy by admitting that.) None of that is really disputed. Whether or not it matters if we celebrate Jesus's birthday on a Pagan holiday or not....I have no idea. I'm not a Bible scholar. And I don't want to get into a debate on the subject, either. So I'll just say that I don't know if God gets angry at people for celebrating it (as my husband believes), however, I do not believe that he gets angry if I don't.

To my husband's dismay, I do put up a tree. (The tree comes from Paganism, too, by the way.) But I see Christmas as nothing more than a commercial holiday. Jingle Bells, snowmen, Rudolph, Fa La La La, La La La La. To those of you are are freaking out right now, please calm down. I believe in God. I believe Jesus is the son of God. I believe he was born to a virgin and died for my sins. I just don't believe that I have to celebrate his birth in order to get to Heaven. Thank you for your understanding.

I said all of that when I really meant to blog about this story.

The atheists/liberals really just hate God. Anything that's associated with Christianity, they mock it. And even though I don't really get into Christmas the way some Christians do, I know that this country was founded on Christian principles, and Christmas is a big part of Christianity for many people.

So, at the state capitol in the state of Washington, right next to the nativity scene, the atheist group the Freedom From Religion Foundation put up their silly little sign that says, "At this season of the winter solstice, may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."

And they call it free speech.

So, since I'm really not sure if celebrating the birth of Jesus on December 25th is cool with God or not, but I can't stand the whole liberal, politically correct, anti-God attitude, I have my own sign.

Black (Friday) Sheep

Maybe a lot of them shop for the deals, but I think most of them just do it because they think they are supposed to.

Not me.

I never shop on Black Friday, and I never will. I don't enjoy going to the mall on a slow day. I don't understand why someone would fight those crowds just to save a few dollars. Are the deals really THAT great? I don't think so. I've never heard of any Black Friday deal that I couldn't live without.

Is it worth the stress of searching for 20 minutes for a parking space, only to find one and then have someone come from the other direction and steal it from you? Is it worth arriving at your favorite store only to find that hundreds of mall zombies got there before you, and the item you wanted is gone?

Is it worth trampling someone to death?

These deranged Walmart shoppers thought so.

In another article I read about the same incident, it said that even after hearing that someone had been badly injured, people ignored the store employees' requests to stop shopping and move to the exit. Some people were still entering the store, hurrying right past the dead guy.

That's the mentality of Black Friday shoppers.

No thank you. I won't join the shopping sheeples.

In fact, I'll be shopping online again this year. :)

Happy Thanksgiving! And bon appetit!

Sarah Palin granted a traditional Thanksgiving pardon to a lucky turkey last week.

She was then interviewed by a local television station.

I'm not sure who the fool was who decided to film the interview in front of the exact spot where a man was, uh, preparing some not-so-lucky turkeys for the holiday. I'm equally unsure as to why Sarah didn't insist that they move to another not-so-bloody location.

Of course, some liberals are going berzerk, calling it a "turkey massacre" and ranting hysterically about the fact that the turkeys are being shoved into a "death contraption".

By the reaction of some, you would think that Sarah chewed the head off the turkey herself.

I guess they didn't realize that the bird we eat on Thanksgiving doesn't originate in the meat department at the grocery store.

Okay, the video is a little graphic.

But let's see if I have this right.

Killing unborn babies? Okay.

Killing turkeys? Not okay.

Here's the video. You might get grossed out. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I knew I shouldn't have turned on the T.V.

Our economy is in the tank, we are in the middle of a war on terror, we just elected a president who has a very troubling agenda, the Democrats are going to keep recounting votes until they get their 60-seat Senate majority and can screw up our country in ways that we might never recover from, and what do I see when I turn on the news?

-Rosie O'Donnell feuding with Barbara Walters and complaining about her "post-traumatic stress disorder" after leaving The View. (I've never watched The View. I never will.)

-Paris Hilton is breaking up with her boyfriend. (I don't care. Do you? Does anyone?)

-Mrs. Hulk Hogan is broke, despite the $40,000 a month in alimony she receives. (Linda, after all of the ridiculous statements you have made, aren't you embarrassed yet?)

The mainstream media refused to report most of the concerning questions about Barack Obama's past, but they will air this crap. If I wanted to hear celebrity updates, I would watch Entertainment Tonight.

Some of the same garbage was even on Fox News.

This is why I primarily get my news online. At least I can pick and choose which stories I want to click on.

ObamaBots

This video illustrates how biased the media is, and how ignorant people are, partially because of that bias.

You should have to pass a test before you vote.

These people didn't know which party controls Congress. They didn't know who Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Barney Frank were. They hadn't even heard of Bill Ayers.

Yet they all knew which candidate had a pregnant teenage daughter. You know, one of the important facts reported by the mainstream media.

When asked which candidate claimed he/she visited 57 states, they just guessed that was Sarah Palin. Gee, did the media do a good job of painting her as a fool, or what? (It was His Holiness Barack Obama who said that.)

Each of these people had just cast their vote for Obama.

From the How Obama Got Elected website:

Because obviously interviewing a relative handful of Obama voters, while interesting, is hardly scientific proof of anything, we also commissioned a Zogby telephone poll which asked the very same questions (as well as a few others) with similarly amazing results.

Zogby Poll

512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

Oh, the hypocrisy

Want to be part of the Obama administration? According to the New York Times, "A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of President-elect Barack Obama to those seeking cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most extensive — some say invasive — application ever."

After looking at some of the questions, I'm wondering if Obama would qualify to serve in his own administration.

Applicants must reveal any emails, text messages or blog posts that might embarrass the president-elect, They must also report all businesses they have been affiliated with, all organizations they have belonged to, and anyone they lived with or received gifts of over $50 from.

I left out a lot, but for the 63rd and final question: “Please provide any other information, including information about other members of your family, that could suggest a conflict of interest or be a possible source of embarrassment to you, your family, or the president-elect.”

Hm, ok. Can you say Rezko, Ayers, Khalidi, Wright? How about campaign contributions from unidentified donors?

I'm thinking Mr. Obama should be the one who is embarrassed.

And now for some truly terrifying news

If you know me, or if you've been reading this blog for a while, you know about my irrational, "get-the-hell-out-of-my-way-or-I-will-knock-you-over-to-get-away-from-this-thing" fear of cockroaches.

University of Florida researchers are alerting pest-control operators and homeowners to be on the lookout for several new species of Florida's least-favorite character, the cockroach.

I was already worried about the economy and a terrorist attack. And now this?

The Madagascar hissing variety, as you may have guessed, actually makes a hissing sound. Could there be anything more horrifying?

If I see one of these, I will die. It's a simple as that.

The coming Obamanation

So, I've been in mourning for a few days, but I'm back. There have been a few things I wanted to post about, but I never seemed to find the time to sit down and do it. Now I guess most of it would be considered old news, but since there are at least 2 people who would probably never hear any of this stuff if I didn't post it, I'll get you caught up.

First of all, when a tyrannical ruler with an apocalyptic worldview is elated about who you've chosen as your president, you might have elected the wrong guy. Just look HERE at the grin on A-jad's face. Yep, he's a happy man. His candidate won. Luckily for us, he's even outlined what we, the United States, need to change about our foreign policy. How neighborly of him. No doubt Obama will be sitting down at the negotiation table with him any day now.

Secondly, I wish I had time to elaborate on all of the comical displays of swooning and adoration over our new president-elect. If ever there was a cult of personality, this is it. For example, there's a new rap song! It's called My President Is Black, and is done by Young Jeezy. Who is Young Jeezy, you might ask? I have no idea. Nor do I care.

But you can even get the T-shirt.

So much for healing the racial divide, huh?

And from the "you've got to be kidding me" files, take a look at this. Soon, government employees will have another day off. Notice that they are even serving "Obama cake". Oh, the absurdity.

And to those who have said that I should give our new president-elect a chance, I tell you that I don't need to. I did what everyone should have done. I learned all I needed to know about him before the election. I know what kind of man he is, and what his plans are for this country. And I don't like any of it.

I can still say that, can't I? Do we still have freedom of speech? I know that Obama is all about CHANGE. And I'm thinking that might be the first freedom to go, as evidenced by the people he's tried to shut up already.

Two things I'm wondering:

1. How can Obama, when he takes the Oath of Office, swear to uphold the constitution, considering that he believes the document is flawed?

2. How long it will take for the Obamabots to be embarrassed to admit they voted for him?

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

It's going to be a long four years

And hopefully it's ONLY 4.

I'm trying not to let the election results ruin my day. I'm just sad, and maybe a little surprised, that there are so many Americans who fell for Obama's rhetoric, but didn't hear what he was actually saying.

Or didn't care.

So, here's what Neal Boortz, on his website today, says we have to look forward to:

The end of the secret ballot in union elections
A return of the Fairness Doctrine
A tax code punishing the wealthy, businesses, entrepreneurs, achievers
More federal government in government schools
Universal healthcare
Cap-and-trade policies on coal (no nuclear power, no drilling)
Supreme Court justices who favor a vaporous idea of "fairness" over the Constitution
The security of our nation and our allies (particularly Israel)
--(I'm thinking he meant the loss of security. Obama has no plans to strengthen our military, that's for sure.)

I can't believe that we elected a man who lamented the fact that our constitution doesn't say anything about what the government "must do on your behalf"! That shows the intelligence and mindset of a large portion of voters: What's in it for me?

Americans apparently don't understand the principles this country was founded on anymore.

While so many people despise George Bush, they have no problem with Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Rashid Khalidi, etc., etc. But oh, that's right. All of that is just inconvenient coincidence. It has nothing to do with Obama's character. And if you believe that, I have a bridge for sale.

And while millions of people are worried and upset about the economy, no one is particularly concerned about terrorism.

By the way, if this election was not about race, then why is it that the only thing I'm hearing today in the liberal news media is how wonderful it is that we have elected a black man as president?

I mean it when I say this: I hope I never have to say, "I told you so." I sincerely hope the United States will continue to be the great country it has always been.

But I'm not feeling so good about that right now.

This lady is part of the problem

**Post edited to fix broken link

Never mind what JFK said. Too many Americans are not asking what they can do for their country. They just want to know what their country is going to do for them.

Watch the video below and listen to "Peggy Joseph". She's not going to have to worry about bills anymore, thanks to Obama. All hail the Obamassiah!

I think I am going to be violently ill.

Election anxiety

I'm just disgusted with this whole election. You might ask why I continue to be obsessed with it and read so much about it if it's stressing me out so much. Well, I believe this election is the most important one ever. There is a whole lot at stake.

People who say they don't follow politics amaze me. Politics affects every area of your life. I'm certainly not as politically aware as I'd like to be. I don't know as much about history as I should, and I'm not as familiar with who my local elected officials are as I should be. But I'll be damned if I'm going to sit back and be blissfully ignorant while someone like Barack Obama tries to take our freedoms away.

For one thing, I'm disgusted with the liberal media coverage. Well, more specifically, I'm disgusted with their non-coverage of the truth about Obama. As Neal Boortz said today, what if someone could come up with something that John McCain wrote in which he detailed his attraction to members of the Ku Klux Klan? We all know what would happen. Yet Obama talks about his attraction to Marxism in his book Dreams From My Father. Have you heard that reported in the liberal media? I didn't think so.

Not only that, if you attempt to ask the Obama campaign any tough questions, you are put on shut-up immediately. Have you heard about the television anchor who rattled Joe Biden? Biden was incredibly condescending and angrily defensive in his responses, and now that TV station has been banned from the Obama campaign media list. Wow. If you're going to interview a liberal, make sure to ask only softball questions. Here comes the "Fairness" Doctrine. Look out, talk radio.

In general, I am just disgusted with anyone who would vote for the Democrats in this election. I have never been a fan of a Democratic candidate, but I wasn't simply astounded when I knew people who were voting for Clinton. I wasn't appalled when I heard that a friend had voted for Al Gore. But in this case, I simply don't get it. I can't think of a single redeeming quality that Obama possesses. I only see 2 types of Obama supporters: 1. People who are voting for color. 2. People who are mad at George Bush and therefore voting against the Republican party.

I guess these people either don't know what socialism is, or don't care. I guess these people aren't worried about Islamic extremists, and don't find it significant that Obama is awful chummy with some horribly wicked people. Well, I don't believe in coincidence, at least not to this extent. You aren't pals with Ayers, Alinsky, Khalidi, Wright, etc., and endorsed by multiple evil dictators and terrorist groups, yet completely innocent of any wrong-doing or backwards thinking.

I don't drink often, but I might have to get drunk on election day.

This should be all over the news

But of course, it isn't.

Watch this video that was just uncovered today. Actually, it's more audio than video, but there is a little to watch that goes along with it. It is less than 5 minutes long, so everyone can find time to watch this. Then read what I have to say below it.

I have listened to this about 6 times now.

I hear something more than what most of the pundits are saying about it. In fact, the only person I have heard mention what I'm about to say is Glenn Beck. I caught about 5 minutes of his radio show this morning, and he said it.

In this tape from 2001, Obama mentions that the Civil Rights movement didn't do enough, in that it did not provide for the redistribution of wealth.

As you know, the Civil Rights Movement refers to the reform movements in the United States aimed at abolishing racial discrimination against African Americans.

Don't get me wrong. That was a good thing.

HOWEVER, when Obama says that he doesn't believe it did enough, he is saying that it didn't do enough for African Americans....because, again, that is what the movement was about.

And what he feels was left out of the movement was the redistribution of wealth.

So, is Obama talking about reparations? I think one could infer that, don't you? That's the logical conclusion here. He's not just talking about redistribution of wealth, in general. He's talking about reparations for African Americans.

How does Obama feel about white people? Just as a reminder, here are some quotes from him again:

"That's just how white folks will do you."--Barack Obama

"....After all, there were thousands of so-called campus radicals, most of them white and tenured and happily tolerant. No, it remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."--Barack Obama

"It is this world...where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere...That's the world! On which hope sits!"--Barack Obama (Edited to make Malcolm happy: This is actually a quote from Jeremiah Wright. As if that matters. Obama included it in his book, and Obama all but idolized Wright. Birds of a feather, and all that...)

"I don't believe it's possible to transcend race in this country. Race is a factor in this society. The legacy of Jim Crow and slavery has not gone away."--Barack Obama

"The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person."--Barack Obama

I am not drinking the funny Kool-aid. I'm no paranoid conspiracy theorist.

I'm just listening to what is coming out of the man's mouth!
